Almeria is a lovely Spanish resort area featuring a beautiful stretch of coastline and a great Spain hotel option. The Hotel Los Patios in Rodalquilar has a fantastic location right next to the beach, with a lovely terrace and simple but stylish rooms.

The owner's wife creates some excellent dishes in the hotel kitchen. Spanish playwright Federico Garcia Lorca set his famous play Blood Wedding at a ruined farm near the town, the Cortijo del Fraile, which is located between La Isleta del Moro and Rodalquilar. The story was based on real events, and visitors today and walk from Rodalquilar to the deserted chapel featured in the play. Gold was discovered in Rodalquilar at the end of the 19th-centery, and there was active mining here until the end of the 1960's. You can still find abandoned miners' houses in the village, which is overlooked by the towers of the old mine.
